Rebecca Schweiger, Founder/Director Rebecca Schweiger is an Internationally Renowned Contemporary Painter. Her luminous, uplifting artwork has been displayed in over 50 galleries and museums throughout the world, and her work is included in hundreds of private collections. Her work is currently exhibited at Walter Wickiser Gallery in New York City's Chelsea Gallery District, Keifer Gallery in Idyllwild, California, JBS Gallery on Madison Avenue in New York City, and in November 2011, Rebecca will have a solo exhibition at Rosen Gallery in Boca Raton, Florida. In both her artwork, teaching, and Founder of The Art Studio NY, Rebecca shares her passion for creativity and authentic self-expression as a pathway to freedom, self-empowerment, healing, and joy. She feels most excited about celebrating her human potential in all that she does, and Rebecca shares this loving, inspiring energy of being the artist of her life, both on and off the canvas, through her artwork and, of course, with all of her students. Rebecca's unique teaching method, infused in The Art Studio NY classes and workshops, combines artistic technique with authentic self-expression from deep within, thus encouraging an extremely positive, open, non-judgemental, nurturing and empowered artistic experience for any artist of any level, especially "total beginners". Her students find not only their artwork on the canvas maturing rapidly, but they also see their lives off the canvas taking form in incredible, magical ways! Rebecca has ignited the "empowered artist within" amongst thousands of her students. After working with students, one by one, throughout Massachusetts, New York, Texas, California, Israel, Costa Rica, and Italy, Rebecca felt inspired to open The Art Studio NY in Manhattan in 2003, in order to further share the transformative qualities of self-expression and inspiring creativity through visual art. The Art Studio NY offers art classes, creative workshops, and inspiring creative opportunities both in New York City and worldwide for all levels and all ages. In addition to teaching at The Art Studio NY, Rebecca lectures and leads workshops and retreats world-wide. Rebecca and The Art Studio NY were selected in 2009 as artists-in-residence at Harlem Village Academies "Find Your Passion" program, a school that President Obama describes as a model for the national education agenda and what Mayor Bloomberg calls "the poster child for this country". Over the past ten years, Rebecca has become one of the leading instructors teaching courses about creativity, personal growth and self expression for Dorot's University Without Walls, a program that enhances the lives of homebound elderly with interactive educational courses and support groups over the phone. Most recently, Rebecca is responsible for co-creating the New York City branch and offering free art classes at The Art Studio NY with Elizabeth's Canvas , a non-profit organization that supplies cancer patients and survivors with the creative resources they need to live creative and empowered lives while proving that cancer will never erase the creative spirit. |
