ART FOR AFRICA

MISSION: Art for Africa is a community project created through The Art Studio NY that supports mind/body/spirit nourishment for underprivileged children in poor communities in Africa. In many poor communities, children are merely surviving. Art for Africa stands for all children not only surviving, but thriving with joy, self-expression and self-empowerment through providing healthy food and healing, artistic experiences and an abundance of educational art supplies for youth in need.

CURRENT PROJECTS:

Art for Africa thanks for their generous ongoing donations of art and school supplies for our programs in Africa. In 2010, Staples has already donated over 20 boxes of supplies...hundreds of children are enjoying, expressing, and creating!

The Lunchbox Fund: www.thelunchboxfund.org
The Lunchbox Fund provides impoverished children in the township schools of Alexandra and Soweto often their only meal of the day. Many of these children are AIDS orphans who are caring for their siblings and whose performance at school is diminished without food. Receiving food encourages these children to stay in school and obtain their education.

We provide an abundance of free art supplies to children who otherwise would not have access to the magic art creates.  Through the healing and empowering qualities inherent in the creative artistic experience, children are reuniting with the pleasure, joy, and freedom that every human being has access to when properly nurtured creatively and spiritually.
Artworks for Youth provides free after school visual art instruction, mentoring, and academic support to under-served students in South Africa. Thanda provides material and educational support to Orphans of AIDS and impoverished children in rural South Africa, with special programs in art.
